An extra special event for our 3rd Jazz & Cocktail event at Blue Monday.

Thanks to Dr Ian Darrington MBE, co-Director of Wigan Jazz Festival and The Music Continuum, we are extremely excited to welcome South African sax player Dan Shout for his only Scottish gig this trip after gigs at Wigan Jazz Festival and before some down south.

Dan Shout is a respected, sought-after jazz musician, bandleader, educator and business owner based in Cape Town, South Africa. He has performed and or recorded in over 30 countries across five continents with the likes Johnny Clegg, Winston Mankunku, Maria Schneider (U.S.A), The Blues Broers, Robin Auld and the Mike Campbell Big Band to name a few.

Shout’s original compositions reflect his life-trajectory through Southern Africa – his family’s emigration from Zimbabwe, his formative years in the Namib Desert and his spiritual homecoming to the slopes of Table Mountain where he now resides. The music is infused with the sounds and souls of the music and musicians Dan has been exposed to and with whom he has performed.

Dan will be joined for this special gig by Jean-Baptise Richon Trio, a fine trio of musicians based in Edinburgh and they will play 2 sets and may then invite other musicians to jam with them if they bring instruments along.
