A Fife magician is one of the best in the UK.

Cameron Young was given the title of most entertaining wedding magician at The Global Wedding Awards.

The 27 year old, who appeared on Britain's Got Talent four years ago, says the news was unexpected.

"I genuinely didn't think I was going to win it because it's a global award so it's worldwide and then they pick their favourite magician per country for the whole of the wedding industry," he said.

"I hate to think how many people I was against but it ended up being me who won.

"It's not due to not working hard, I do 300 weddings on average every year so I'm probably one of the busiest in the world but that doesn't always mean the best but I'm glad they think I'm one of the best."

His business like many took a hit during lockdown and was hugely affected by Covid restrictions.

He said: "Lockdown had it's implications, it basically took my company and ran away with it.

"It was pretty much like a fresh start in 2022 and from then, 2024 seems to be what my 2020 should've been.

"In 2020 I was on Britain's Got Talent, that was supposed to be the start of my career but now it's really looking up."

But running a business nowadays isn't easy, with many closing across the Kingdom.

Cameron added: "It's never been easy. I started my business in lockdown so technically I was illegal, I couldn't perform.

"Because it was going to be my first proper year I couldn't get any backing so it was a really tough time.

"I'm still recovering now and I am noticing couples are struggling with the cost of weddings, big events are cutting back on costs.

"There's still implications so instead of doing 1 or 2 shows a month I try and do as many as I can because you never know what ones your going to be able to."

But after winning the award he has big dreams for his career.

He said: "I've always wanted to do America's Got Talent, I did a show with Penn's (Jillette) child Moxie last year which won an award.

"But my new Edinburgh Fringe show for this year, called The Scottish Magician, I'm already in rehearsals for it.

"I usually don't start them until about June. I have choreographers, music, lighting. It's the best venue and best timeslot I've ever had so Fife support would be amazing."
