Around 78,000 people live in the Kirkcaldy constituency, which stretches from Burntisland to Methil and across to the island of Inchkeith.

The area has a slightly higher than average percentage of unpaid carers. A third of the population has no qualifications - but 20% have a degree or professional qualification.

The seat has been held by David Torrance (SNP) since 2011.
