Young Fifer Wins Apprentice Of The Year

A Fife Council employee has been voted apprentice of the year.

Fife Council’s Adam Wallace won the APSE apprentice of the year award in the transport and vehicle maintenance category.

The announcement came at the APSE local authority apprentice and trainee awards on 20 October in Stratford upon Avon.

Earlier this year, Adam also won Fife College HGV apprentice of the year.

The apprentice and trainee awards are specific to front line service areas and support excellence in training standards within local authorities and their partner organisations throughout the UK.

Cllr Pat Callaghan, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation said: “This has been a fantastic achievement by Adam and demonstrates the quality of our apprentice training programme.
“Well done to Adam for all his hard work, this recognition is well deserved.”

Councillor Lesley Laird, Depute Leader and Executive Spokesperson for Business Enterprise, Economy and Planning, said: “Congratulations to Adam, you’re a credit to Fife.
“We’re committed to investing in Fife’s workforce of the future. That means providing young people with a range of vocational opportunities in the community and local businesses. The council is the Kingdom’s largest employer and it’s important we play our part and bring the young people from Fife’s communities into our workforce.
“National recognition is very welcome and demonstrates the first class training and support that Fife Council offers.”
