The Met Office have issued a yellow alert for snow

The Met Office have issued a yellow alert for snow across Fife on Monday.  

Frequent hail, sleet and snow showers are expected. With 3-8 cm of snow possible to low levels across Scotland and Northern Ireland, whilst up to 15 cm of snow can be expected over higher ground. Winds will be strong at times, with gusts to over 50 mph on coasts and hills. The Met Office are stressing that the public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel and for hazardous driving conditions at times.

Their Chief Forecaster's explains:
A deep area of low pressure is expected to become slow-moving to the north of Scotland on Monday. A strong and cold westerly flow on its southern flank is expected to bring frequent showers to many parts, these falling as hail, sleet and snow in the warning area. Accumulating snow can be expected early and late at low levels, especially in Northern Ireland and Scotland, whilst snow is likely to accumulate above about 200 m throughout. Lightning could be an additional hazard.

The warning is in place from 00:05 to 23:55
