Woman Faces Trial Over '£20k Benefits Scam'

A Fife woman is to stand trial accused of scamming more than £20,000 pounds in disability benefits - after allegedly falsely claiming she was crippled and in constant pain.

Kerry Rennie is accused of fraudulently claiming the cash in Disability Living Allowance between March 2010 and May 2014.

It's alleged she made false statements that her "mobility was severely restricted, that she was in constant pain and needed assistance with the activities of every day life".

Prosecutors say that in truth her mobility was not severely restricted and that she was employed as a sheltered housing officer with Fife Council.

41 year old Rennie pleaded not guilty on summary complaint and a trial date has been set for September.
