Witnesses Sought After Glenrothes Mugging

Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery on a footpath in Glenrothes yesterday afternoon.

A man was pushing a child's buggy along Boblingen Way, towards Ivanhoe Drive junction on Templehall Road, at around 2:45pm when he was approached by a man who tried, but failed, to rob him of his mobile phone. The suspect was last seen running off on Boblingen Way towards the Tanshall area and police are keen to trace him as quickly as possible.

He is described as being white, in his 40’s, wearing a dark coloured beanie style hat, a black coloured shell suit style jacket with a white logo or similar on the chest, dark trousers, and had an unkempt appearance. It is believed the suspect sustained facial injuries as a result of the incident and police are asking anyone who has information that can assist with their ongoing investigation to come forward.

Dog walker

Officers also want to speak with a dog walker who was seen on Boblingen Way a short time before the attempted robbery to contact them. They are believed to have a small, gold coloured dog, which was wearing a red coloured jacket.

Detective Constable Kieran Marsh who is based at Glenrothes Police Station said: "This was a shocking incident against a father and his young child in a fairly secluded part of Glenrothes.

"This particular path is commonly used by dog walkers and cyclists and I would ask anyone who was in the area and who saw the suspect either before or after this incident to please get in touch with police on the 101 number or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
