When you can see the Flying Scotsman travelling through Fife tomorrow

One of the world's most iconic trains is heading for Fife.

The Flying Scotsman will make three visits to the Kingdom tomorrow (Friday June 25) as it takes passengers on a return trip from Edinburgh.

Full details of the journeys haven't been published, but it will include a trip over the Forth Bridge, along the coast towards Kirkcaldy, and back to the capital.

The steam engine will leave Edinburgh at 9.44am, returning to the capital at 12.41pm.

Its second journey starts at 2.14pm, returning at 4.38pm, and there is a third trip in the evening - leaving at 7.05pm and finishing at 9.56pm.

All the journeys are sold out.

The Flying Scotsman was built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway - transporting people between London and Edinburgh.

It set two world records - for the fastest speed and the longest non-stop run by a steam locomotive.

It retired from regular service in 1963 and found a home at the National Railway Museum in York.
