Voters Reminded To Register

These letters will be dropping through letterboxes throughout Fife

Letters are arriving across Fife reminding people to make sure they're registered to vote.

The Scottish Parliament elections take place in May next year, so every household is receiving a form with the most up to date information available. Occupants must respond if there are any changes to be made, otherwise they may find themselves without a ballot paper next year.

16 year olds are also being reminded that they can vote for the first time in the upcoming elections.

The aim of the form is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can register to vote individually. Linda Bissett, Electoral Registration Officer for Fife, said:

"Anyone who wants to vote must be registered. To make sure you’re able to have your say at next year’s Scottish Parliamentary elections, simply check the form when it arrives and reply as soon as possible.

"It’s also important that as 16 year-olds will be able to vote at next year’s Scottish Parliament Elections, you should also include 14 and 15 year-olds on the form. This is so they are on the register when they become old enough to vote.

"It’s particularly important that anyone who has recently moved looks out for the form and checks whether they are registered at their new address."
