One of Scotland's largest unions could become the first to back independence.

Members of the Public and Commercial Services union are voting later on the group's official stance.

It's believed members will come out in favour of a Yes vote following a meeting of branch delegates.

The group represents 30,000 civil servants here, their support would come as a huge boost to the pro independence campaign after recent challenges to the SNP's currency and economic plans.

As yet, no major union has endorsed the idea of a separate Scotland.

Delegates in Glasgow will vote on three propositions: whether the union should remain neutral in the debate or back a Yes or No vote.
