Union 'Concerned' By Council Cuts

There are concerns over potential budget cuts

A major teaching union is concerned about teachers and schools in the Kingdom.

Fife Council has announced potential budget cuts for 2016. They could amount to as much as £22m from February 2016, according to council leader David Ross.

Education represents the biggest service spend in the Kingdom. The EIS in Fife fear the impact on schools could be devastating.

The union also says that the delay in the autumn statement by the Westminster Chancellor poses particular problems for every Scottish local authority in considering their budgets for beyond 2016.
