Two new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Fife

The coronavirus has come to Fife for the first time, with two new cases in the Kingdom.

In an update from the Scottish Government this afternoon, it has confirmed the total number of cases across Scotland is now 11.

It's not known where the location of the cases are within Fife, because of patient confidentiality.

NHS Fife says it has been anticipating a possible positive case for 'a number of weeks'.

The health board adds 'well-rehearsed procedures' are in place.

Dr Esther Curnock is Deputy Director of Public Health at NHS Fife and said: "NHS Fife has well-rehearsed procedures in place to deal with the potential of communicable viruses such as coronavirus, and has been preparing for the eventuality of positive cases in Fife for a number of weeks.

"We continue to work with Scottish Government and colleagues nationally to ensure we are well prepared to manage any cases of the virus moving forward."
