The crew at Anstruther RNLI has responded to three calls in two days in a busy period for the charity’s volunteers.

On Friday morning both lifeboats were called to Elie when a female called the coastguard after a fall on the chain walk.

The inshore lifeboat assessed her condition and decided it best to transfer her to Elie Harbour and waiting paramedics.

Meanwhile at lunchtime yesterday the coastguard was alerted to a vessel in difficulty near May Island in the Forth.

The inshore lifeboat launched and assisted the vessel back to the safety of Anstruther Harbour.

Then, while washing down the boat and kit, both lifeboats were immediately called to help a female walker with a suspected broken leg near Fife Ness.

Arriving first, the crew aboard the inshore lifeboat administered casualty care before passing the woman into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

As restrictions ease and the good weather continues, Martin Macnamara - the RNLI's media officer for Scotland - is urging coastal visitors to take care and plan ahead.

He said: "Accidents at the coast will happen. It is important that you have a means to call for help should it happen to you. If you get into difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
