Turning Around Derelict Land

Imaginative people across Fife are being encouraged to help give derelict or neglected spaces in and around town centres a facelift.

The Stalled Spaces initiative is aimed at giving local communities a sense of ownership and pride.

Fife Council want to hear from local community groups, artists, architects, landowners, librarians, designers, gardeners, students, engineers, dancers and anyone with an idea and initiative.

Successful applications will receive between £500 and £1, 500.

Councillor Lesley Laird, Depute Leader and Executive Spokesperson Economy and Planning, said “The Stalled Spaces initiative is another example of how we all need to think differently about town centre regeneration. The shape of retail and shopping in our town centres has changed and going forward it will not always be about relying on large scale development. Often small, creative ventures can inspire and attract business investment and footfall into our towns and encourage communities to take the lead and play their part in revitalising town centre spaces.”
