The future for Longannet after the 600 foot chimney's demolition

Today marked the end of an era at Longannet in western Fife.

The 600 foot chimney at Scotland's last remaining coal-fired power station was demolished this morning.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon pressed the button to ignite 700kg of explosives to demolish the iconic chimney.

It had dominated the skyline of the Firth of Forth for more than 50 years.

Up until today, the chimney was the country's tallest freestanding structure.

Scotland has been coal-free since Scottish Power shut the station in 2016 and the energy firm now only generates 100% green electricity through its solar and wind farms.

The Scottish Government aims to reach net zero by 2045, but what will Longannet's future be?

With loud noises near the start of his audio report, Anas Hassan has been talking with Stuart Douglas of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, former manager at the plant Ewan McMillan and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for Kingdom FM:
