Teenager Charged Over Video

A 15-year-old girl has been charged over a viral video viewed more than five million times that shows a young girl being brutally attacked in broad daylight in front of a crowd of school children.

The film is said to have been shot on Sunday on the streets of Cowdenbeath, and shows a girl wearing face paint whiskers pinning a younger teenager against a wall.

She laughs at the camera as she says her victim is "pure shaking like a leaf" before dragging her down by the hair and knees her in the head.

The three and a half minute video, which was widely shared across Facebook, then shows her screaming abuse at the girl and punching her.

She then drags the girl round a corner, followed by a crowd of kids on bikes and skateboards, before pinning the girl to the ground.

The teenage attacker then repeatedly slams the victim's head into the ground while friends tell her to "just leave her".

During the attack the girl claimed it was retribution for the victim's father making an anonymous allegation to police about her father.

Police have confirmed they've launched a probe into the video and have charged a 15-year-old girl.

A spokesman said: "Thank you to those concerned members of the public who have contacted us today regarding a video of an assault in Cowdenbeath, which is currently on social media.

"Officers have charged a 15 year old girl in connection with an assault in the Cowdenbeath area.

"The incident was reported to police on Sunday August 16.

"A report will be submitted to the Children's Reporter."

The video was shared widely on social networking sites, with more than five million views registered.

Horrified watchers condemned the "bully" who carried out the attack.

Amy Driske said: "This is sick - it's made me feel sick to my stomach and feel so sorry for her."

Sheryl Louise Moffat added: "The people there videoing it laughing and doing nothing about it - you are just as bad."
