Teenage smoker numbers 'lowest since records began'

The smoking rate appears to be decreasing

The number of teenage smokers is at its lowest rate since modern records began.

Smoking among teenagers is at its lowest level since modern surveys began, according to a new survey.

Figures from ASH Scotland suggests that 22percent of 16 to 24-year-olds are now smokers.

That's in addition to the rate among 13 to 15 year olds being at a low.

People from the most deprived areas are still above the national average - though the rate has reduced from 45percent in 1999 to 36percent in 2012.

The report also shows that the number of pregnant women who've smoked has reduced to less than 20%
