Tackling Dog Fouling

There's been an increase in the amount of dog fouling on Kirkcaldy Esplanade.

13 disposal bins are currently in place; however locals say many dog owners are simply ignoring them. Those caught not clearing up could face a £40 fine.

Councillor Neil Crooks, Chair of Kirkcaldy Area Committee explained: “The amount of dog fouling along Kirkcaldy Esplanade is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“I plead with dog walkers to be responsible and tidy up after their dogs. Take a plastic bag with you; as long as the dog waste is suitably bagged it can go in any litter bin. There are 13 bins along the Esplanade, so there’s no excuse for dog fouling.”

Environmental Enforcement Officers regularly patrol Kirkcaldy Esplanade and issue fines to anyone not picking up after their dog. Members of the public can also help by reporting any instances of dog fouling to the Council on 03451 55 00 22.

Cllr Crooks added: “If you get caught not clearing up after your dog, it’s a £40 fine!

“I encourage everyone to help by reporting instances of dog fouling to the Council. Information that helps us to identify an offender and the best time to catch them walking their dog is needed.”
