Supporting Fife Youngsters

Thousands of vulnerable children across Fife are to receive a helping hand.

A new Barnardo's Scotland office has opened in Kirkcaldy.

The charity currently works with 26, 000 children and young people to help those affected by sexual exploitation and poverty.

David Torrance, MSP for Kirkcaldy, visited the charity's new office today to cut the ribbon to officially open the facility. He met with staff and families to find out what support local families receive from the charity and how that support benefits children and the local community as a whole.

Assistant Director for Barnardo's Scotland, Laura Falconer said: "We're delighted David could join us, he has a strong interest in and commitment to the welfare of children and young people in the area."

David Torrance MSP said: "I welcome the opening of Barnardo’s Scotland’s new office in Kirkcaldy and was delighted to be asked to open it.  Barnardo's Scotland provide a range of invaluable services to families, offering support packages and guidance to parents and  children covering a wide spectrum of issues. I am looking forward to the open day event and the chance to speak with those who run the service and those who use it, to gain a better understanding of the work that is carried out. I’m sure that the services offered will be beneficial to many families within my constituency."
