Supporters Buy Out Meeting

East Fife fans are stepping up their campaign to buy a majority shareholding in the club.

A public meeting will be held later to discuss plans.

Steering group, East Fife Supporters Society, has raised more than £20, 000 so far. Members claim community ownership is the only way to ensure the survival of the club and Scottish football.

Paul Goodwin, chief executive of Supporters Direct Scotland will also be present to answer any questions. SD Scotland have already helped other supporter groups to achieve the same goals, including Hearts, Dunfermline and Stirling Albion.

Allan Duthie, Chair of the EFSS said:

"We are really keen to get as many supporters as possible involved in the planning. We know that there will be many questions and we look forward to answering them. This is a real opportunity for our local community to claim back the club that was created by local people, for local people over 100 years ago."

The meeting will start after the match against East Stirlingshire and volunteers will be on hand to direct fans for the short walk to the meeting place.

Eugenie Clarke is a director and says the main aim of the meeting is to find out how much support they have.

East Fife Interim Chairman Jim Stevenson has refused to comment on the matter but said his biggest concern is keeping the club going.
