Sturgeon Sworn In As FM

Nicola Sturgeon has been officially sworn in as Scotland's new First Minister.

The SNP leader makes history by becoming the first woman to hold the top job.

She will take First Minister's Questions at the Scottish Parliament today.

The new SNP was sworn in at the Court of Session in Edinburgh this morning.

She's the fifth premier at Holyrood, and the SNP's second after Alex Salmond's resignation following September's referendum defeat.

Despite that result the nationalists are now the third largest party in the UK.

The SNP went into the political wilderness when devolution was rejected in 1979.

But North East Fife MSP Rod Campbell says Ms Sturgeon can steer them through the new challenges:
