Councillors agree to a plan which is aimed at protecting front-line homelessness and housing support services.
A new Council/Voluntary Sector Public Social Partnership (PSP) is to be developed by the Council and Fife Voluntary Action by April 2015 to take forward the improved co-ordination of a range of voluntary and housing association services for vulnerable people.
A report back to the Executive Committee will be made by January 2015 containing the detailed governance, financial, and monitoring arrangements for the Partnership.
Executive Spokesperson for Housing & Building Services, Councillor Judy Hamilton said:
"Fife has a proud record of working in partnership with the voluntary sector and Housing Associations in homelessness. The 35% reduction in homelessness over the past 2 years by delivering effective prevention services is testament to a strong commitment to joint-working.
"We are now going to build on that success by moving to a more joint approach through the Partnership, the first on this scale in Scotland. We are in very difficult financial times and a successful working relationship with our partners will help to achieve efficiencies and protect front-line services for homeless people."
