St Andrews Uni Achievement

Scotland's oldest university has risen 20 places in the top 100 of an international league table.

St Andrews is ranked 68th in the QS World Rankings, it's highest place ever in a global ranking. It's the ninth year in succession that the university has made the world's top 100 universities.

QS World University Ranking is the most extensive listing of its kind taking in a range of factors including academic reputation, research strengths, citations, reputation with graduate employers and international influence. The 21015/2016 rankings considered more than 3, 500 universities worldwide and evaluated 891, collecting more than 120,000 responses.

St Andrews was ranked particularly high, 19th in the world, for its ability to attract students from overseas and its international faculty was ranked 77th.

The University was rated highly for the reputation of its Arts faculty, coming 67th in the world and for its Natural Sciences departments, 141st.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Louise Richardson said: "This is a terrific achievement, and is largely due to the increasing influence of our research and the extent to which the remarkable work that takes place here is cited around the world. This result speaks to our continuing commitment to academic excellence and to our enthusiastic adherence to the essential values of independent scholarly endeavour.”

The University of St Andrews was named best in Scotland and 3rd in the UK by both The Guardian University Guide 2016 and the joint Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016.
