Speeding Rates Increase

Police Scotland warning to drivers who break the law.

Motorists in North East Fife are being urged to watch their speed after a dozen drivers had to be reported  for speeding offences at various locations throughout the area, and on some occasions, directly outside schools.

Police Scotland Sergeant Gary Combe confirmed that over the past week a total of 12 drivers have been detected and are to be reported for speeding.

He said:

"On one occasion, a 54-year-old man was found to be driving at more than twice the speed limit, directly outside a local primary school. This type of driver behaviour is, thankfully, uncommon but is totally unacceptable and represents a real danger to all road users and in particular the school children.

"I would urge motorists to adhere to the speed limit, drive safely and when in the vicinity of any school, and to slow down and pay extra attention for children in an effort to keep our communities safe."

Anyone with information about any location where there is a concern about speeding, or indeed any other road safety issue, is requested to contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
