SMEs Could Be Breaking Green Waste Laws

Eight out of ten small and medium businesses could be breaking the law on dumping hazardous waste.

Firms caught intentionally dumping materials instead of recycling could be fined up to £10,000.

The law covers items such as batteries, light bulbs, used computer equipment, leftover paints or pesticides and old refridgerators.

This type of waste can harm humans, animals and damage plants if they come across toxins either buried in the ground or in a river runoff and can affect groundwater that supplies drinking water.
