Slower Version Of Football To Launch In Fife

Walking Football is coming to Fife, thanks to a new partnership programme from Active Fife and NHS Fife.

Provost of Fife, Jim Leishman, will be taking part in the launch match at Duloch Leisure Centre on Monday 3 August and he’s encouraging other ‘over 50s’ to get involved too!

He said: "This is a great new programme and I’m looking forward to taking part. It’s aimed at helping older adults as well as those at risk of or recovering from a range of medical conditions to stay physically active.

I hear that any player caught running concedes a free kick to the opposition so I’m certainly up for what will feel like a rather unusual challenge for me!"

Each session lasts 45 minutes and will include a warm up, a match of two halves and a cool down.

An experienced SFA coach will be on hand to officiate the sessions, which will take place indoors or on astroturf.

The maiden match takes place at 11.30am on Monday 3rd August 2015

Bookable weekly sessions will also begin at Duloch Leisure Centre and others across Fife from 17 August.
