Six deaths confirmed after coronavirus outbreak at Fife care home

Six people are now confirmed to have died after a coronavirus outbreak at a Fife care home.

The number of positive cases at Canmore Lodge in Dunfermline has also risen by 35 since last week.

In a statement NHS Fife said: "A total of 44 residents within the home have now tested positive for Covid-19. Fifty-eight staff at Canmore Lodge Care Home have also been confirmed as positive for the virus.

"Sadly, there have been six deaths amongst care home residents who tested positive for Covid-19 and our thoughts are with their families and loved ones at this time.

"To prevent the spread of Covid-19, anyone experiencing the well-established symptoms of the virus, regardless of how mild, should immediately self-isolate and arrange a test using the NHS inform website www.nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816.

"A local online support hub has been created to provide information on testing for COVID-19 and updates on the pandemic. Visit: www.nhsfife.org/coronavirus."
