A section of the A92 in Fife is set to close over the next two weekends for landscaping work next to the carriageway.

The dual carriageway between the Redhouse and Bankhead roundabouts will shut to traffic from 6am tomorrow (Saturday November 7) until 7pm on Sunday, with a diversion in place.

A similar closure will apply on the same stretch next weekend (November 14 and 15) running from 6am on the Saturday until 7pm on the Sunday.

The closures are to allow teams to cut down overgrown scrub and vegetation, and for the thinning of the existing treeline. A number of trees will also be cut down.

Ian Stewart, Bear Scotland’s north-east representative, said: "These works will involve our landscaping teams clearing some of the vegetation next to the A92, promoting healthier growth but also ensuring that any trees or branches that could pose a hazard are removed.

"We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the weekend works under 24-hour working to ensure the project timescale is kept to a minimum. The closures are essential for keeping our operatives safe as well as motorists.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out this essential maintenance on the A92. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."
