Scottish Referendum Looms

20 key questions answered for PCS members by Better Together and Yes Scotland as polling day approaches.

The Public and Commercial Services Union has announced that Scottish members will receive answers to 20 key referendum questions from the campaigns and political parties supporting both the Yes and No campaigns

The 24 page booklet 'PCS informs, you decide: 20 key questions answered for PCS members' is being direct mailed to all 28,000 PCS members in Scotland detailing responses to 20 key questions central to the union's core policies.

PCS takes no side on Scottish independence; instead politicians on both sides are challenged on the union's policies which are firmly rooted in an economic alternative to austerity, investment in public services, and redistribution of wealth through tax justice and compassionate social security.

Whatever the outcome of the Scottish referendum on 18 September, PCS will continue to focus on genuine lay-led member engagement, robustly and critically engage with Ministers and Opposition parties in order to secure and protect members’ interests.

Lynn Henderson PCS Scottish secretary said:

"PCS takes pride in our members’ active engagement in the Scottish referendum debate.  As civil and public servants, they have a direct interest in the future governance and delivery of public services in Scotland – whatever the vote on 18 September.

"The day after the vote, whatever the decision, our members delivering UK and Scottish government services in Scotland will be stepping up their demands fair pay and pensions, quality public services and decency in social security and tax justice."
