Scottish Labour: Nominations Close

Nominations have closed in the Scottish Labour leadership contest with three candidates standing.

The contest was triggered by the sudden resignation of Johann Lamont as leader. A short time later her deputy, Anas Sarwar, also stood down.

MP Jim Murphy, who has 27 nominations is to stand, alongside MSP Neil Findlay on 11 nominations and Sarah Boyack who has 10.

A ballot of Labour MPs, MSPs, MEPs, unions and party members will get underway on 17th November with the new leader being announced on December 13th.

MSP Kezia Dugdale and North Ayshire and Arran MP Katy Clark have both put their names forward to become deputy leader.
