Scottish Government to discuss aid worker's murder

The Scottish Government's to convene a meeting of its resilience committee to discuss the killing of aid worker David Haines.

It comes after a video appeared last night of the 44-year-old being killed by Islamist extremists. 

The Foreign Office says it has no reason to believe the video is not genuine.

Mr Haines went to school in Perth and his parents live in Ayr.

First Minister Alex Salmond told the BBC's Andrew Marr programme there was a case for collective action through the United Nations:
