Scottish Government Hold Meetings With BiFab

Minister reveals involvement after being asked to do more to protect the firm.

Scottish ministers say they're doing everything they can to help protect jobs at BiFab.

170 people could be out of work by the end of this week if the fabrications firm doesn't win more contracts, and there's a warning of a significant gap in orders.

MSP Claire Baker asked the Government what it was doing to help the company in Holyrood this afternoon.

Business and Energy Minister Fergus Ewing told her he met with the company on the 13th where the possible job losses were raised.

Mr Ewing said "we're doing as much as we possibly can, we value the work that BiFab does. We will continue to work very, very closely with them and their team."
