Scottish Dietary Goals Need To Change

Food Standards Scotland are recommending Scottish dietary goals to change

The first of three FSS board papers addressing Scottish diet have discovered that in fifteen years of Scottish dietary goals there has been little or no progress.

The research discovered that when asked many Scots believed they have a healthy diet, despite 65% of the population being overweight or obese. The report has also highlighted most diets are too high in calories, fats, sugars and salt and too low in fibre, fruit and veg.

Ross Finnie, Chair, Food Standards Scotland, Said:

" The Scottish diet is not improving and the problem of diet-related ill-health is now spanning the generations"
