Scottish Children Miss Out On Free Fruit

The UK Government has opted out of the European Union scheme to give school pupils fruit and vegetables for free.

8 million Scottish children will miss out on free fruit and vegetables from the European Parliament.

It's after the UK government has chosen to opt out of the EU's School Fruit Scheme for the 7th year in a row.

Over 54 thousand schools across Europe benefit from the scheme, to the tune of 150 million euros.

Alyn Smith, MEP for Scotland says the decision by the UK government is short sighted.
