Scotland boss Pedro Martínez Losa says women's football will continue to grow after McDermid Ladies played their first game since disassociating themselves from Raith Rovers.

The women's team, captained by Tyler Rattray, took on Livingston in a match that was played in Kirkcaldy on Sunday, with writer Val McDermid present at the fixture.

Neil Sinclair, their coach, said yesterday that they've been overwhelmed by messages of support worldwide.

Raith Rovers had to apologise last Thursday after completing the transfer of David Goodwillie more than a week ago.

Goodwillie and a former team-mate at another football club David Robertson, now retired from football, were branded as rapists in a civil court case in 2017.

The Championship club said that Goodwillie will not play for them after the player's arrival to the club caused widespread anger among supporters and other people.

Meanwhile, Losa has been talking about the need for women's football to take place in a "healthy and safe environment".

He was talking at a press conference today to mark his announcement of his latest squad for the forthcoming Pinatar Cup, which starts next week.

Caroline Weir, the Manchester City midfielder from Dunfermline, has been included in his team.

Their first fixture in the tournament will be with Wales a week tomorrow in Spain.

Scotland are aiming to qualify for next year's World Cup and have qualifiers away to Ukraine and at home to Spain in April.

They are also scheduled to be away to the Faroe Islands in September.

If the national side qualify, then it'll be their third finals in recent years.

Scotland qualified for Euro 2017 and the 2019 World Cup, but missed out on the finals of this year's European Championships.
