Ryder Cup 2014

Thousands of people bound for Gleneagles to watch one the biggest events in the sporting calendar.

The 40th Ryder Cup is upon us at Gleneagles.

After all the sparring, we now know the opening day fourballs which include pitting Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia against Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley.

Meanwhile, tourism bosses say a quarter of a million people are expected to visit the event in Perthshire.

Visit Scotland says the global audience reaches into hundreds of millions.

Riddell Graham from from the tourist agency is telling us it's the third biggest sporting event on the planet, and has been ten years in the planning.
