RNLI's Mayday fundraiser to help Fife lifeboat stations launches

The RNLI's Mayday fundraiser to help Fife's lifeboat stations launches today and is running throughout May.

It comes as demand for its services continues to rise, with the charity saying all money raised during the fundraiser will go towards making sure its volunteers can do all they can to save people's lives.

Statistics say Scottish lifeboats launched 1,176 times in 2021 (10 per cent increase on 2020), 987 people were aided by the RNLI in Scotland (21 per cent increase on 2020) and its crews spent 9,245 hours on rescue calls (14 per cent increase on 2020).

The Kingdom has two lifeboat stations in Anstruther and Kinghorn.
