The leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats has dismissed a senior party member's defence of embattled MP Alistair Carmichael.
Sir Malcolm Bruce, who stepped down this after being an MP for 30 years, said politicians lying is part of everyday life.
The SNP are calling for Carmichael to resign over releasing a memo claiming Nicola Sturgeon wanted David Cameron to win the election.
An online campaign to raise legal fees to oust Mr Carmichael has raised more than £13,000.
