Raith Rovers Ladies Return

Raith Rovers Ladies 1st Team was resurrected this month after over a year of inactivity 

The new manager has been named as John Fettes who previously coached Hawick Royal Albert.

The team are planning to return to the Scottish Women's Football League next season. 

Women's football is enjoying renewed interest following the 2015 Women's World Cup, with a record numbers of girls playing football for Raith Rovers Girls teams. 

The new first team will create progression opportunities for those who play in the Raith Rovers Girls teams.

Open sessions are held every Saturday at Kirkcaldy High School between 12pm and 1pm.

Raith Ladies manager, John Fettes said: "Mid to longterm goal is to have a team which is competing for leagues and competiting to win trophies.

"But the short term aim is to really get the team reestablished and play our games week in week out and be competitive in those games."

Paul Doig, Head of Community Football at the Foundation, said: "I am delighted to assist Raith Rovers Ladies to be back up and running, and get more women in the Kirkcaldy area playing football."
