Public Meeting Over Tesco Closure

A public meeting will take place at Kirkcaldy Town House this evening, to discuss Tesco's plans to shut the Hunter Street store.

189 jobs are under threat in Kirkcaldy and 2, 000 across the UK.

Fife Council will meet with Tesco bosses today for crunch talks.

Also being discussed will be the Post Office, which faces having to find a new home.

Connie Hewitt from the Post Office is promising they won't abandon the town centre.

She said:"We're absolutely committed to maintaining a Post Office Service in Kirkcaldy.

"We recognise just how important and how valuable this service is to our customers in Kirkcaldy, and we're working extremely hard to see that we can keep the service operating after April the 4th."

The meeting is expected to start at 6pm in Kirkcaldy Town House.
