Work is set to begin early next year to improve the 'Postings Steps' at Bell Inn Wynd.

Cllr Neil Crooks, Chair of the Kirkcaldy Area Committee, met with Harry Cormie, Chair of Kirkcaldy4All and Bill Harvey, Manager of Kirkcaldy 4 All, in the town centre to mark the latest improvement planned for the town centre.

Cllr Crooks said: "Kirkcaldy Area Committee awarded over £47,000 to contribute towards this project, replacing both the steps and handrails, from the Council’s Town Centre Development Fund last year.

"Improvements to prominent facilities like this help contribute to the wider efforts underway to encourage shoppers and visitors back into the town centre. And it goes without saying that the improvements are also greatly welcomed to improve the accessibility of these particular steps.

"The Esplanade multi storey car park and sea wall improvements have also recently finished. I'm really pleased that the progress being made in the town centre area is coming to fruition. Both the Postings steps and Esplanande car park were areas that locals and the business community had highlighted for action. Kirkcaldy's Town Centre Development Fund is helping these upgrades become a reality."

Bill Harvey, Manager Kirkcaldy 4 All, added: "As a main thoroughfare for entering and leaving the High Street it is vitally important that the infrastructure is up to the mark. This project, allied to the recent upgrade of the Esplanade Multi Storey car park, demonstrates that commitment and collaboration can achieve results."

The total project cost is around £95,000 with the rest of the work being funded from the Council's Transportation budget, work is due to begin in February 2015.
