Police Launch Vulnerable Road Users Campaign

Children, cyclists and the elderly get road safety advice.

Police are launching a new campaign today urging children to stay safe as they go back to school.

Called the vulnerable road users campaign - it's aimed at children, cyclists and the elderly. As well as urging children to remain vigilant when returing from a holiday, it also highlighted the changes other road user experience at the start of term, having adapted to quieter road and pavements.

Last year, 36% of road fatalities were from these three groups. 71 of the 200 people who dies on Scotland's Roads in 2014 were from these groups.

Road Users Life Cycle highlights the risks faced by each category of road users and will run until 2016.
