Police Appeal For Witnesses

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was attacked by two men armed with baseball bats in his own garden.

The 53-year-old was attacked at around 4PM on Tuesday August 4 in Demarco Drive in Glenrothes.

He suffered a head injury as a result of the attack.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment before later being released.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their ongoing investigation to come forward.

One of the suspects is described is being of mixed race and in his late thirties, there is no description of the second suspect.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Hunter, from Glenrothes CID, who is leading the enquiry said: "This appears to have been a random and unprovoked assault, which left the victim with a painful injury to his head.

Inquiries so far have identified a Silver Ford Focus, with distinctive roof bars, which was seen in the area in the days leading up to the attack and we have reason to believe this vehicle may be linked to this incident.

We are keen to trace it along with three men, possibly with English accents who may have been staying at local guest accommodation prior to the assault.

I would ask that any hoteliers or bed and breakfast establishments in the Fife area who may have knowledge about this car or the three men contacts police immediately.

Similarly, anyone with any further information relevant to our investigation should also get in touch."

A Police Scotland spokesman added: "Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
