Pensioner Robbed In Fife

An 86-year old woman has been left shaken after being pushed to the ground and robbed in Leven.

She was approached by a man shortly after 10am yesterday morning near to the junction with Scoonie Road and Durie Street.

The suspect, who stole the pensioner's handbag, is described as aged between 20 and 30,  approximately 5ft 10in' to 6 ft tall and of skinny build. He was wearing a white coloured long sleeved shirt, black coloured trousers and a distinctive brown beanie hat with yellow and red stripes.

Police say the man ran off down Church Street towards the Promenade.

Detective Sergeant Jim McGuinness said: “The elderly woman was not injured as a result of this incident, however was understandably shaken.

“Local officers will be carrying out high visibility reassurance patrols in the area and speaking with local residents and business owners whilst viewing CCTV footage of the area. I would appeal for anyone that was in the area who might have seen this person, seen anyone acting strangely or just as importantly who recognises the description of the male to contact the Police using the non-emergency 101 number.”
