Parents Urged To Take Time Out

Parents are being encouraged to take some time for themselves this Christmas.

Fife Council's ‘Take Time for You’ campaign is urging mums and dads to get out and explore the Kingdom - without their children. They say it's important to take time out to reduce stress in order to help youngsters have a good festive season themselves.

As part of the campaign Welcome to Fife has put together their top ten recommendations on how to enjoy Fife on a budget this winter.

Fife Tourism Partnership Manager, Ann Camus, said: "We are lucky to have so many options for things to do here in Fife all year round, which won’t break the bank. So whether you have an hour or a day to spare why not become a tourist in your own town this winter, you might be surprised what you find!"

The lists includes going for walks in parks or along the coastal path, visiting museums or even getting some exercise at the gym.

December is the busiest time of the year for most parents and according to Clinical Psychologist at NHS Fife, Dr Marie Renaud, that is why it is even more important for parents to try and take a time out when they can: "Enjoying being a parent depends on making sure you are taking care of yourself as well as taking care of your child.

"Be aware of things that are causing stress that might affect your ability to be a parent. Try to build a little time to do something you enjoy each week."
