Operation Tusker 2015

Police in Fife say they're taking a 'pro-active' approach towards crime.

Figures show minor assaults, disorder and street drinking complaints typically rise during the spring and summer months.

Operation Tusker, which has launched today, will see extra police officers deployed to patrol the streets. Officers say the initiative helped contribute to a reduction in recorded crime of 13.8% in 2014 compared to 2013.

Police Scotland says Operation Tusker 2015 will seek to improve on the success of last year and will aim to:

  • Reduce violent crime, including alcohol-related violence
  • Reduce incidents of disorder
  • Increase detection of violent crime offenders, including those who commit domestic abuse & hate crime
  • Reduce antisocial behaviour
  • Conduct robust inspections and management of licensed premises

Superintendent Douglas Milton said:  “Operation Tusker will see an increase in the number of local patrols, including strict enforcement of licensed premises, bail conditions and those sought on court warrants.  Key areas have been identified through analysis of crime trends and based on information provided by members of the public.

“Officers will be providing updates and messages via their divisional and local Twitter pages. We would request that any member of the public with information or who are worried about issues in their community to get in touch with their local community officers.”

Anyone who wishes to report a crime can contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
