North East Fife businesses received 940 government coronavirus loans

A National Audit Office report shows that the Bounce Back Loan Scheme paid out to 940 North East Fife businesses to help them survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Over £25 million, in total, was paid out to businesses in the region.

The scheme was announced on 27 April as part of the UK Government's plans to help small businesses navigate the global pandemic.

Businesses across the country could apply for up to £50,000 each, or a maximum of 25% of their annual turnover.

The report also states that the government is facing a potential loss of £15 million to £26 million through businesses being unable to repay the loans, and fraudulent claims.
