No new coronavirus deaths recorded in Scotland for first time since lockdown began

There have been no new coronavirus deaths recorded in Scottish hospitals in the last 24 hours for the first time since lockdown began.

Figures from the Scottish Government show no change in the total Covid-19 death toll north of the border, which still sits at 2,415.

There have also been no new people admitted to hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, meaning the total number of patients remains 646.

But the health secretary has warned people against reading too much into the figures and getting carried away.

Jeane Freeman said: "We know that fewer deaths tend to be registered at the weekend than on other days of the week. It is still very likely that further Covid-19 deaths will be reported in the days ahead."

More than 110,000 people in Scotland have now been tested for the virus, resulting in 15,621 confirmed cases.

The Greater Glasgow and Clyde region has the highest number of cases in Scotland with 3,981.
