No More B&Bs For Fife Homeless

Fife Council will remove Bed and Breakfast accommodation for homeless people by March 2016.

The change by the council will be taken as they fear that decreasing homelessness figures over recent years may be reversed with changes to benefits and tax reform hitting private landlords.

Homelessness in Fife has fallen by 49% since 2012, but the use of temporary accommodation remains high as people face waits for suitable flats and houses to move into.

The removal of Bed and Breakfasts will speed up the process to permanent housing, with interim options being hostels or other lodging.
