NHS Fife Chief Executive To Retire

After 35 years of service John Wilson, Chief Executive, has decided to retire early as a result of ill health.

Mr Wilson has been a key figure within NHS Fife over 30 years and has over 35 years service in the NHS.

He has played an important role in the development of acute services and was at the forefront of the implementation of Right For Fife. His personal input and leadership has made positive contribution to the lives of the people of Fife. John’s last day will be Friday, 3 October, 2014.

As a result of this Brian Montgomery, NHS Fife Medical Director, will become the interim Chief Executive and further changes will be made to ensure there is consistent leadership and momentum behind the forward direction for Fife’s Health
and Well Being especially when moving towards Health and Social Care integration.

Allan Burns, NHS Fife Chairman, said:

"While it is sad news that John is about to leave NHS Fife we would like to respect his decision to retire early. I would
personally like to thank him for his excellent contribution to healthcare in Fife over many years and wish him and his family well for the future."
